How to Download: If you would like to download Jing, you must go to https://www.techsmith.com/jing.html,you can then click on the free download button in the mid-right part of the screen. You will then choose to download the application for either Macintosh or PC. Once the file is downloaded you can open the file and let the computer know that the app is trusted. This should let you open the app unless you have restricted access due to an administrator or anti-viral software.
When Jing is opened, a sun should appear peeking out of the top right corner. To use the program, you must scroll over on the sun in the corner. When you scroll over the sun 3 options will appear: capture, history, and settings.
To take a screenshot, you must click on the capture button ( the one that looks like a star). Once you click on this button crosshairs will appear on the screen. At this time you get to choose what part of the screen you want to capture. To choose the area you want to take a picture click and drag your mouse until the appropriate area is covered and release the mouse. This changes jing and a options menu appears beneath the covered area. The options are Capture an Image, Capture a video, redo selection and cancel. Click Capture an Image, and a new screen will pop up allowing you to highlight, draw, and even type on the image. Once you are done, you can then choose to copy the image, upload it to screencast.com, save it to your computer, or cancel.
